Social Networking: Better or worse than the real thing?

I chose this topic because almost everyone in this generation can relate to this topic and because it is important to understand how the new media has changed the ways of social networking. There are several things that have drastically changed because of new media, like how we communicate with each other, and how quickly we do it. Also how precise and accurate the information is communicated because a lot of is in writing and it is not vague. This means that there are both positive and negative effects of the new media social networking, such as how quick facebook is in finding your friends and networking with them on a more personal level however that means there is negatives such as invasion of privacy. Everyday we use regular household items that are not what they used to be at one point and most of the items that we use try to get us to be more in sync with the new technologies, like reading a book on a kindle, or playing video games with your friends from across the country over xbox live, or simply video conferencing with someone on the iPhone 4 instead of just talking. This should give an idea of how the new media and new technology has changed the norms of social networking and how it have positive and negative effects.
